I tried DD-WRT on my R7800, using one of the older Kong builds for it (maybe from September?)
It killed my radios and they no longer work on stock FW.

Sent it back to Netgear under RMA (ugh shipping charges) and received a new one.

Flashed the most recent Kong build 30910M.

2.4 GHz radio is very unstable and disappears every 15 seconds or so causing all clients to lose connection.

5 GHz radio broadcasts but you cannot connect to it.

Tested on all frequencies, upper and lower, VHT80, VHT160, HT40, etc...

Nice to see USB support has been added since my last try in August though!

Update: None of the devices in my house (3 Android phones, 2 Smart TVs, WiFi printer) can connect to the 5 GHz radio except my Intel 7260 in my PC. lol, and it works fine with that PC.
How strange.

In comparison, my RT-AC66U on the exact same WiFi settings works great and all devices in the house connect to it!

I guess I will subscribe to this thread in case we have news of working WiFi radios in another build.

Update: Flashed back to stock FW on my new R7800 using dd-wrt-to-netgear-fw-R7800 then upgraded to 1.0.2.12 and my radios are working fine on Netgear FW unlike my last R7800, phew. (although 5 GHz does not want to use up any more than 20 MHz?)

You probably did not properly reset your unit after flashing back to netgear firmware.

By the way next R7800 build uses vlans now, therefore your current dd-wrt config will not work anymore and you have to reset after flashing the upcoming build, the same applies to next BrainSlayer build.

Exactly vlan1 lan, vlan2 wan.

I find it exact the same. I am using DD-WRT because I get my wifi signal from another router and then distribute it in my house. Stock firmware cannot do it. My last tplink WRT254 router (like 20 dolares one) did that perfectly, working for months without a glitch. What's wrong with 7800?

Kong, seems that the best way to get smth into dd-wrt is to push it into lede?Smile

But you have pulled not all device tree changes, there are also leds and buttons drive-strength and enable state fixes taken from gpl tarball.

Besides that vlan definition in device-tree is not working now, because we lack this patch https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromiumos/third_party/kernel/+/006ad73f7558bb37ab5bf43ff9c3a50d6ddaaf45%5E%21/#F0

I've tried to port it this way https://github.com/dissent1/r7800/commit/058d23cfeb4a3510766116438055a2e3a8903a69
but failed to verify if it's actually working.
My up to date branch is sta16 just in case

Not all of the changes are ok for our 3.18 kernel.

Anyways, BS setup vlans in a better way.

I'm measuring ~900mbps now. He also just updated ATH10K, now lets see if it fixes some of the problems tatsuya46 saw.

Yes that's okay now, as BS reverted this part.

I'm uploading a new build right now, it also comes with ATH10K changes,

do we still need to erase nvram with this new build then?
