Hi..

I just received my DIR-868L A1 a few days ago.

After I that I flashed it with Shibby's Build 136
and installed entware and transmission.

It was working fine for a while until I made some
script modification and restarted the router then
it can't bootup anymore.

- Power LED flashing Orange
- can ping 192.168.0.1
- Stuck in Recovery Mode
- Tried to Flash every version of stock firmware, DD-WRT, and Shibby
still stuck in Recovery Mode

I think I just corrupted NVRAM

I just ordered USB to TTL Serial Cable.

It's gonna arrive in 1-2 days.

Can you help to guide me to recover the router
using serial port?

While in recovery mode, have you tried flashing a stock firmware instead of dd-wrt or Shibby?

Yup..

It accepted the stock firmware then
when it's done. It restarted only for 2 seconds
then come back straight to Recovery Mode.

It is too bad that the recovery mode can't fix the problem. All the de-brick information on the Internet for DIR-868L are referring to the recovery mode only. I can't find any information on using the serial ports for de-bricking the router.

Thanks..

I managed to solve it by using USB-TTL cable to
issue nvram erase command.

I had struggling with connecting USB-TTL cable to JTAG
a little bit because either Online JTAG connector inside
DIR-868L guide or Cable Guide labeled RT/TX wrongly.
(RX labeled TX and TX labeled as RX -_-").

It's not labeled incorrectly. That's how it is. You connect tx to rx and rx to tx.
Read the serial wiki.

Hi Kanuki,

I posted my error with video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4roRQnAojyU

It seems I have the same error and also has the nvram erase command.

Can you give me detailed instructions how I should proceed?

I ordered this USB TTL cable.

Thank you for your help!

Hi there,

there seems to be a problem with D-Link devices. Some other users and I experienced exactly the same problem with a DIR-880L.

Would be interesting to know, what exactly causes this behavior...
