H version is very similar to D version of this DIR-615 router, both are Ralink-based. Anyhow, there are some interesting changes in the newest firmwares (25143, 25179, 25203, 25279, 25309) that brick one model and doesn't on the other.
On the D model, anything higher than 25179 bricks. But 25279 works on the H model, it seems.

25179 works well for my D version DIR-615. So I would try 25179 or 25143 on an H version. I wouldn't go past 25179, since something important seems to have changed for DIR-615 with Ralink chipset in general.

Tried 25408 on DIR-615 H1.
It does not brick.
Web interface comes up just fine, looks good.
You can even make some settings, save or even apply them.
First try I set the IP address and connection type to disabled (using it as AP only) and rebooted. Bummer. The router does not reply to the new IP or the old. Though an ARP seems to be sent out with the new IP by the router during boot. Had to do a factory reset, IP was back to 192.168.1.1. Tried again. Same problem.

I'm going back to 23503 with 300Mbit startup hack now.
Too bad there is no working newer version...

Apparently 25279 works well on DIR-615 H1, you might try that.

I currently have:
Router Model Dlink-DIR615 rev h
Firmware Version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) std - build 21061

I tryed to upgrade to build 25179 using the webflash file.
The process failed but it didn't brick my router.

Should i try the factory-webflash version or should i try another build ?
My problem is that with my current build i can't get more than 150mbps on wifi.

Do I need to do factory reset before upgrading ?
I tried without and got "Upgrade Failed".

Yes, do the 30/30/30 reset first and then try again to flash the webflash version (not factory) of 25279 for your router. Use Firefox.

You wouldn't believe me, but I actually run DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/11/14) std - build 25628 on a 615-H. I was able to upgrade after I did an factory reset and flashed the new version with the emergency flash tool.
