Hi all,

I have an R7000 Nighthawk running Kong's build (#25090M) and would like to install optware on it. I mounted /opt partition, enabled /jffs and tried to follow the instructions here:

http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Optware_on_K3-AC-ARM

However, neither ipkg nor opkg commands are available in my dd-wrt build... Am I missing something? I already searched the forums but didn't find any useful pointers.

Thanks!

Well - both the last BS build (408) and the last Kong OLDD build (Kong 24350 OLDD) have ipkg included (just confirmed it). So either down- or upgrade if it 's not a user / flashing error due to a corrupted firmware file.

Hi,
do you know that on 25100 (I don't know about a previous version) you just have to type bootstrap?

(I hope I understood what you are asking... you know I'm a newbie) Razz

A quick search of the forums will yield the instructions i have posted twice on how to do this. OPTWARE does not work on ARm builds and OPTWARE is written for MIPSL cores not ARM.

correct, when talking about "optware the right way" and "OTRW2"... install scripts and repositores specific to a different architecture than the r7000.

however... This post is trying to leverage the OpenWRT repositories on the R7000.

Did you even look at the link the OP provided?

i.e. it has nothing to do with trying to point at the MIPSL friendly repositories in error.

http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Optware_on_K3-AC-ARM/Repositories
http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Optware_on_K3-AC-ARM/Repositories/magick777

Came across those links ^^ while researching the R6300v2, found it helpful to read up on the R7000 given similar architecture to my devices.

PS. I'd hardly call what your body of work on optware "insturctions"

Optware should not be confused with normal package installation. Optware is more than just installing packages through opkg.

Optware was created because installing packages from openwrt repos is not fully compatible with dd-wrt as openwrt normally installs in normal root dir, while "optware" installs to /opt.

I have done some testing with my old repo and was not satisfied with the current state. I'm currently improving it with better integration in dd-wrt. Newer musl also allows to build more packages.

Thanks everyone for the inputs...

By optware, what I really meant was a way to install a few pre-built packages that I need.

Anyway, I got the answer to my original question in Kong's changelog:

Quote:
Build 24500 06. July 2014 +++++
(2)ipkg is not used anymore in my builds, to install packages, make sure you have at least one partition mounted under /opt after that logon to the router and run command "bootstrap".

However, this didn't work for me either since bootstrap just tried to download and install opkg.ipk from http://www.desipro.de, where it doesn't exist anymore. I finally downgraded to the last OLDD build which has ipkg and successfully set up opkg following the wiki instructions.

Now, I find that some of the packages I was looking for such as autossh, openssl libcrypto, etc are missing from the repo [https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/imx6/packages/packages/] and I also need to compile my own stuff against libcrypto to run on the router. Does anyone know where can I find instructions to set up a build environment for this arch?

Thanks!
