Hello to DD-WRT community!

I tried changing the firmware to DD-WRT from the stock ASUS build. It worked for one single day and the router went off. The router only shows a steady power led when turned on. Minimal heating after few minutes (which I think is within the normal operating range). Other than that, no signs of it booting.

The router looks registered when the ethernet cable is connected to my computer although it only registers 169.x.x.x IP. Router does not go into restore mode.

I went first to follow all what have been suggested in the threads here but to no avail. (30/30/30 reset, WPS - restore method, TFTP)

I bought a USB to TTL adaptor, tried it with putty - the serial console shows nothing.

Is my router totally bricked?

A suggestion would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

blazefive,

did you try to do factory reset as documented in the device manual by vendor?

https://content.etilize.com/user-manual/1018098980.pdf

Did you try to set your computer IP to static one such then try to establish access to router web console using http://192.168.1.1 assuming the IP of router is 192.168.1.1 when performing factory reset:

IP: 192.168.1.5
Gw: 255.255.255.0

You should try running firmware recovery tool if you didn't give a try:

Thanks for the response, Gworld.

Yes, I tried that and the router does not go into recovery mode. Same as to setting up a static IP still to no avail.

Any idea about the pinouts for serial recovery on this router? What I know is that PIN1 is the vcc (marked near J2 print on the board).

Thanks again.
