This morning, while trying to diagnose a DSL connection problem, I decided to recycle power on my WHR-HP-G54 running v23sp2. While pulling out the power connector and reinserting, I had my hand on top of the unit, and accidentally pressed the AOSS button while doing it. As soon as I reinserted the power, constant green lights and can't reset, etc. Wham-o, bricked router.
So... the question is whether there is any known condition which can cause bricking on this router if the AOSS button is pressed at an inopportune moment - such as when plugging in the power? Inquiring minds want to know...
anyway to disable that button - or since its during booting you cant do much ? _________________ 2x WRT54G v5, 2x WRT54G v2

I'll be interested to read the answer to the above question. Also, can you simply re-flash the device since one basically has to follow a de-brick procedure to get the unit flashed in the first place? _________________ Buffalo WHR-G54S

How does one recover from this mistake? Can you just redo the tftp process to load in the dd-wrt mini version, and then the desired dd-wrt version, starting over?

After installing an SD card and painting my Buffalo WHR-HP-G54, it was just a bit tight going back together. Unbeknown to me, the plastic bezel had the AOSS stuck down. When I booted up, it bricked. I tried everything I know, and the only way I recovered it was via JTAG. And even at that, clearing the NVRAM wasn't sufficient. I had to wipe out the kernel and tftp the firmware back in. Hope that helps.
Has this been fixed yet? If not, how does one recover from this mistake? Can you just redo the tftp process to load in the dd-wrt mini version, and then the desired dd-wrt version, starting over?
