I tried to update my firmware folowing a brazilian forum.
it was two steps.

the first i had to update with "dd-wrt.v24-9330_micro_wrt54gv81.bin"

the second with "DD-WRT_v24_micro_generic".

the first step was ok, them i waited 3 minutes, and logged in to the 192.168.1.1 and tried the second step.
i got an error saying that it failled.

i turned the power down and tried it again more errors appeard.

I logged in to the 192.168.1.1 and configured my internet acess ppoe, everythings apear to be alright.

in the top of the page says "Firmware: DD-WRT v24 RC-7 (03/19/0Cool micro".

Is it right? i tried to update the firmware with the firmwares in this page but all failed...

The WRT54G v8.1 behaves well once you succeed in flashing the first time using the special initial bin file already mentioned in this forum. Since then I have successfully upgraded using both micro and micro-plus builds. This model (v8.1) comes with the smaller 128k CFE so it has enough flash RAM for the slightly larger micro-plus bin file. I am currently running
dd-wrt.v24-10305_NEWD_micro-plus.bin
as a wireless client.

I was using the internet allday long yesterday with no problem but at night the connection lost, and did not reconnect... i was using a notebook, so i checked a pc near me and it was down to... tryed to connect at 192.168.1.1 to see what was happening and did not get it...
so i checked the wrt54g, the power led was down, the dmz and the wlan too and the "cisco system" button is off too. i turned it off and on again and nothing happens, just the ethernet lights are on, i can only
check my ethernet, pc to pc is ok, wireless is off and
internet is off.

What happened? is it bricked?

Hope to get an answer.

It was not a power problem. the power led and dmz led and the wlan was not on.
i found a forum saying to set manualy the ip to 192.168.1.100 and try to conect to 192.168.1.1, there was no aswer but i can ping to 192.168.1.1 so it
said to use the tftp to send the .bin file to the router again.

I made this and the power led was back on.

My router is back thanks God and the forum.

Moshe where do i found the "dd-wrt.v24-10305_NEWD_micro-plus.bin "?

can you give me a link?

Thanks for the help.

The link for this and other latest test builds is here or near:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/others/eko/V24_TNG/svn10326

This is working for me. Remember these are still experimental.

I just saw that there is an even newer release just up, -328- I haven not tried it yet.

Detailed instructions are already posted earlier in this forum.
See the message from Eko Posted: Wed Mar 19, 2008 7:43 pm.

You must perform a hard reset, then use the browser based interface to load the special first time file:

dd-wrt.v24-9330_micro_wrt54gv81.bin
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=4470

Hard reset again.

After that you can update the firmware to a more recent version of the micro or micro-plus builds.

Hi. The dd-wrt.v24-9330_micro_wrt54gv81.bin version looks like instable to me.

How can I restore/reinstall the original firmware in 8.1 version ?

TKS !

But you are making a mistake. The -9330 version is special for the initial flash of the v8.1 . It is not the final working version. After loading that one, now update to a current version. I installed the TNG Eko 10404 Micro-plus successfully on wrt54Gv8.1

Find it here:

I used the dd-wrt.v24-9330_micro_wrt54gv81.bin like said in 3rd page.
I know I have now to upgrade using dd-wrt.v24-9330_micro.bin but when I try to click in any link in DD control panel, I need to put a USERNAME and PASSWORD, I have tried ADMIN, ROOT, BLANK, uppercase, lowercase, NOTHING works.
When I press Cancel, shows a msg saying the password in root, but doesnt work.
What can I do?

The default username on last releases is root, and the password is admin.

I installed the TNG Eko 10404 Micro on my router. Sometimes the router stop working, and I need do mannualy power off and power on again (after a couple seconds).

I did a master reset and tried to restore the Original firmware, but just "UPDATE FAIL". I've tried a TFTP of the original firmware, but I got the same error. How can I restore the Original firmware with safety and sucess ?

You should be able to restore the original firmware. I was able to find the firmware by negotiating the Linksys technical support (for the USA) to this link:
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1166859837401&packedargs=sku%3DWRT54G&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=3740137401B01&displaypage=download#versiondetail

Firmware 8.1.09 build2 4/10/2008 Version Info 1.75 MB

But my install of DD-WRT is working perfectly well on this device, so you might consider whether there could be any other explanation.
