Hello.

Yesterday, I got EX6200 for very cheap price and decided to play around with DD-WRT.

Currently I am running DD-WRT without any issue but I am running old kong build due to issues with latest builds.

So, I found two different build; 1. official dd-wrt and 2. kong build.

1. Official dd-wrt beta build:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/11-01-2016-r30826/netgear-ex6200/

This build has two issue.
- This firmware cannot be updated from factory gui.
Netgear factory gui check if the firmware ends with chk as well as some weird checksum.
Since official beta is not in that format, it cannot be updated from factory firmware gui
Solution: initially install Kong dd-wrt build and you can install any firmware.

- 5ghz radio is always off.
I realized that 5ghz radio is always off. i tried to turn it on by nvram or searched all over forums but couldnt find the solution to turn it on.
Solution: I dont have it

2. Kong Build DD-wrt
http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-Arm/

Latest build has one major problem
- DHCP is not working.
No matter what I try, client cannot get ip address from dhcp server.
Solution: Use r29300 build.

So, I am ended up using r29300 kong build which is very stable so far.

I just wondering if anyone experienced same thing on Netgear EX6200 and has workaround.

Thanks,

---EDIT---
I said i ended up using r30700 but it was actually r29300

Before starting with DDWRT it is good practice to read the sticky threads at the begining of the forum especially the peacock thread.
Then look at the supported devices: https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#Netgear

If you had done so, then you would have known that for alomost every router you have to use an initial build to flash form stock, in your case these are with a .chk extension. (you are lucky not to have bricked your router). After that you can use either .bin or .chk firmware.
Every new build has a thread to report issues: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=305455

Report there about the issues you have and the devs can take notice.

(Kongs 30700 is a very good and solid build)

Thanks for your lengthy reply.
However, I think you didnt really check what kind of info you are giving.
The page you posted says minimum requirement for EX6200 is netgear-ex6200 build 25139 20141022
(ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2014/10-22-2014-r25139-testing/netgear-ex6200/)
As you can see, this is also bin firmware which cannot be used as initial flash.

Hello everyone!
I have the extender in question and installed the DD-WRT on it to test. I wish to use it as a router in the future, taking advantage of the device. I live in Brazil, where electronic equipment is very expensive, so we have the habit of reusing what we already have. When installing, I noticed that the firmware is not very stable, dropped the connection several times. How to configure the repeater is a bit laborious, this requires changes. I did not understand how to configure the 5G radio using the connection received by the 2G, as in the original. After testing, I decided to go back to original firmware. I installed it the right way, via cablo and being careful. The installation went well and, after the setup, everything was normal until finalization. After that, the extender did not restart normally, it took a while. The connection was not successful, there were no IPs on the connected devices, I had to do it manually. So they worked. Another thing that got annoying is when the signal disappears and comes back on reboot. So I did the 30-30-30 reset, although I read that it should not be done on device with arm processors. After that, I configured it again, the IPs were automatically distributed, but wifi still disappears. I left some time to see if I would return without restarting. Then he came back. But it seems that there was a drop in performance and a signal. I do not know if it's because you have changed the antenna positions. Inflitely, it looks like I'll have to use it this way. I already used DD-WRT in old tplink that I had, never had problem.
Now I know about the Kong version. But, I'm afraid to damage my device despite the experience. I'm not good at English and most of the information is always in English. I have to use a translator and I do not trust it if it's giving the words correctly. hehe
I want an opinion from someone experienced or from whom it develops. I want to know if it will continue, since the firmware here is in beta.

Thank you!
