HI,

I have recently purchased WRT1900ACS V2. Its my first WRT router, having wanted one for a while.

So, the first thing I did, was flash the firmware to it.

Now I am having some issues. Intermittant WiFi, cutting from 2.4 to 5ghz, no internet access despite wifi, needing power cycles to recover the internet etc.

It could be one of a few things. But since I never even tested the Internet connection or the Router before, now I would like to revert back to stock to see where the problem is.

FYI - I downloaded the software on located here:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

WRT1900ACSv2 Firmware: webflash image for inital installation factory-to-ddwrt.bin 2016-10-26 28,63 MB

v3.0 (Beta) Build 30796.

Can anyone provide some easy to follow instructions or tips to revert back to stock Linksys FW?

Would i be correct in assuming I can just follow this process to boot up the Stock FW?

The 3 power cycle process is probably the easiest to switch boot partitions.

As a precaution you should probably make an nvram backup from the Admin -> Backup tab. Depending on what your other firmware is, it may corrupt or reset your nvram leaving you with an unconfigured router. You can restore this nvram backup if your settings are lost

This is the process. Your basically power cycling it 3 times.

Power off the router
Power on the router
When the power light goes out for the 1st time
Power off the router
Power on the router
When the power light goes out for the 1st time
Power off the router
Power on the router
When the power light goes out for the 1st time
Power off the router
Power on the router for the last time
At this point your router should be booting from the other firmware partition.
You should be able to login to the web interface to confirm what is running there.

To switch it back again just repeat the above process. Each time you perform the 3 power on cycle process it switches from one partition to the other

Another method uses the SSH command line. There is a command you can run to view what the current boot partition is set to and a second command that lets you change this. I don't remember these commands off hand but a quick search in this forum should turn them up.

These partitions are treated equally. one of them is not a permanent fail safe backup. What happens is each time you update your firmware the router leaves your current firmware in place and flashes your update into the unused partition. Then when it reboots after the update it switches to the partition that it just updated. Leaving your previous firmware in the other partition if you need to go back a previous version.

So my understanding to keep your linksys firmware one would need to use one of the above methods to switch to your linksys partition before updating to a new version of DD-WRT. If you do the update from the DD-WRT partition you will overwrite your linksys firmware and now have DD-WRT on both partitions.

I personally have just been flashing from DD-WRT keeping my previous DD-WRT partition on standby, so I no longer have a linksys firmware. I find it more likely that I might want to go back to whatever my previous DD-WRT version was than ever going back to the stock firmware.

There is no way that I know of to tell if you have DD-WRT, Linksys, OpenWRT, or other firmware installed without just switching the partition, booting it and seeing what is there.

Yes. The link posted gives lots of good info including using the command line (cli) to switch partitions and reboot router. Much easier then the off/on process. My sig has that link included.
If you do not know the latest builds are found here.

Sorry but also me i search the way to come back to stock on my Linsys 1900ACS V2.
So i read this
Quote:
Booting back to stock from other patition
When you install DD-WRT over stock, it installs on a different partition. You can use the following command by entering it in DDWRT commands on the administration tab, Telnet or SSH to determine what partition DD-WRT is running on.
Code:
ubootenv get boot_part

The last number it returns is the partition (it will return 1 or 2). In my case, DD-WRT is on partition 1, so to return to Stock, enter (If yours returns 2, put 1):
Code:
ubootenv set boot_part 2

and then reboot. You can use the command
Code:
reboot

To reset and boot to stock if you brick DD-WRT installation
1. Assuming the router is on, turn it off.
2. Turn it back on... the power light will illuminate and then go out briefly as it prepares to boot. As soon as it goes out, turn it off again. Repeat this step three times, leaving the router on after the third time you turn it off.
3. Let it boot. It should return to stock after you let it boot.

but i have some problem...
1) i search to enter in device but i cannot enter:

Release: 08/03/17[/quote]
I use root/admin, root/password, admin/password but nothing.

2) But to comeback to stock firmware the right way for my DD-WRT v3.0-r33006 which is exactly ?

Thank

You can use the command by entering it in DDWRT commands on the administration tab. What happens when you do it this way ?

I used the ubootenv method myself..seems the safest and that way if and when you reflash, you can make it so you are only ever flashing one of the flash partitions and the other is kept pure.

It depends. Have you flashed DD-WRT twice? In which case you have overwritten the Linksys firmware.

If you have not read the link in my sig read it. I think it will answer your questions. Especially the second post.

Ok i search to explain...

1 - i flash linksys with Dd-WRT firmware
2 - whith your istructions i come back to Stock Firmware with command
ubootenv set boot_part 1 (my number was 2)
and after this commnad reboot

So after this, if i want comeback again to DD-WRT firmware i can make same procedure in reverse ?
ubootenv set boot_part 2
reboot

and will be again in DD-WRT firmware ?

I think you are asking about being able to telnet into the router when running Linksys firmware. Cannot telnet on OEM firmware. There is a selection in the Linksys UI that will switch to the dd-wrt partition, not having Linksys UI available right now I cannot remember where it is, but is a advanced diagnostic page as I recall.

I believe the method is in the troubleshooting -> diagnostic, selecting "Restore previous firmware" is akin to toggling the boot partition. It sounds destructive but the OEM firmware is assuming the alternate boot partition is always the "last" version of the OEM firmware that was installed. You could infact toggle between 2 versions of the firmware all day by loading this page up and selecting "restore".
