|
I'm trying to use the "WDS/Connection Watchdog" feature to reboot the router (Netgear R7500v2) to reboot whenever the modem is down. This happens very rarely, but when it does, the router typically needs to reboot to recover the connection.
I configured the "WDS/Connection Watchdog" setting to use http://192.168.100.1, which is the IP of the modem, and to check every 10 minutes. I can even ping it from the router:
root@DD-WRT:~# ping 192.168.100.1
PING 192.168.100.1 (192.168.100.1): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: seq=0 ttl=64 time=1.207 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: seq=1 ttl=64 time=1.091 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.999 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: seq=3 ttl=64 time=1.027 ms
The problem is that the modem always reboots on the 10 minute schedule. The router apparently can't find modem at 192.168.100.1.
Can someone tell me exactly what the router does when it tests the connection watchdog? Does it do a ping, or something else? Is it expecting to connect at some specific TCP port? |
