Hello,

I am new on forum and with DD-WRT. I have a Asus RT-N66U with firmware DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/27/13).

I want to install Transmission and I am following the Optware, the Right Way tutorial of this link http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Optware,_the_Right_Way. I have some problems.

The first it is that I can't ping to www.yahoo.com but I can ping to 8.8.8.8. I think it is possible my wan connecion of the router that was not set DNS server but I looked on Administration WAN Config that set local dns puts 8.8.8.8 and in the state of wan connection appears 3 dns servers. I don't how fix this problem and I need a solution. My configuration wan connection it's by DHCP.

I attach you an image to understand better.

The second problem if I donwload prep_optware software from browser and I put with winscp in the path that the guide says I received an error when I tried to execute with the message "Optware Installation was NOT successfull". I attach another image to understand.

Someone knows how to fix two problems and if the to problems are relationship?

Thanks in advanced!!

Which build are you on?

i fixed it this ping to google.com or yahoo.com before. I started playing around with all the setting in ddwrt on build 14929. Ever since I upgraded to build 16785, I have been unable to get the ping to work.

If you fixed it let me know how you did it.

My build is 21676.

I think I have problem to solve dns names and for this reason this ping doesn't work and the optware installation also doesn't work.

How I can review this problem in the configuration? Some ideas?

Thanks

Optware is not compatible with Kernel 3.x. Only Kernel 2.4 and 2.6.

IPv6 6in4 (HE.net), OpenVPN (with PBR and split tunnelling), Entware, dnsmasq with ipset

Easy ipset support for the R7000

VPN speed: Download: 77.96 Mbps Upload: 5.00 Mbps (AES-128-CBC HMAC-SHA1)

Yes you can get 50 Mbps+ with OpenVPN on a R7000 if you configure it properly!

Ok.

And why you post this in your sign?

Exists some way to install?

I installed this version because it seems easy to install than K2.6 for this router.

Thanks

Because a very early version of "Optware" for 3.x is available, but it doesn't have any of the scripts/services working yet as they all need to be redeveloped for K3.x, but you are able to use opkg to install additional packages much like ipkg/ipkg-opt:

You cannot however use the other prep script as its for K.24 and K.26.

I'll take out the Optware part in my signature to avoid confusion.

Your DNS settings are obviously misconfigured. I noticed you mentioned 8.8.8.8 which is Google's DNS, switch back to your ISP's DNS settings and try.

Google's dns are way faster than others and your problem is not from google's dns, most likely there is something wrong in your firewall scripts blocking dns requests/ports.

I'd be careful with that one, for websites that use CDN's you might find its not always the case.

What could be the problem, dns restrictions due to isp involving in cdns?
sputnik get a telnet/ssh connection and ifconfig will show you the available interfaces.

James2k,

I want to install Transmission client in dd-wrt and connect usb drive to router for donwloads. If with Optware I can't do it and with 2.6 kernel the USB doesn't work fine, can you tell how I can do it or where I can read how to acomplish my objective?

Thanks in advance
